Search Engine Optimization FAQ

Why are search engines important to my website?

Somewhere between 85% and 90% of all traffic to a web site is delivered by a search engine. About 80% of the searchers do not go to the second page but stay on the first page to shop. 45% of searchers click on the #1 spot without scanning the page. Predictions say the within the next 2 years the internet will become the most used method to find products and services.

How do the search engines decide on how sites rank?

First of all you have to remember that you can not pay a search engine for a high ranking. The organic results which take up most of a search page is what most users look at. This section gets 2 1/2 times as much traffic as the PPC ads at the top or sides of the pages. What a website owner wants is the natural search results that can only be achieved by search engine optimization.

What is search engine optimization or SEO?

Search Engine Optimization is the method that an Internet Consultant uses to place a website at the top of the search engines. This includes the correct placement of keywords in the content of your site. Linking your site with other sites of a similar theme. Constructing your site properly and this includes using web standards and complying with the Americans with Disability Act. These are just a couple of things that I consider important even though there are over a thousand different items I believe these are the most important and will not change. This will keep you at the top of the search engines for a long time.

What is link popularity that I hear so much about?

Consider each link you have pointed to your site as a vote for you. With everything else being equal, the more votes you get the higher you will rank. I have noticed many times that a site that has only 500 links but was coded right will rank higher than a site with poor structure and lack of good content but have over 5,000 links. So it does come down to a complete package to take advantage of your link popularity.

How long does it take to get a top position on the search engines?

My best answer is a long time but that also depends on how your site was optimized. There are just too many factors not only with your web site but those of the competition. With us optimizing your site we can put you in the top 1% of all websites but we still can't guarantee a #1 position. We do things right and that will give you a better chance of reaching that goal.

Is any one search engine better than the others?

Recent studies have shown that Google still has the most traffic and they are trying to index all of the information on the web. But those same studies show that Yahoo and MSN have the largest amount of buyers with MSN leading the way. Most consumers have either Yahoo or MSN as their home page and feel comfortable ordering from that instead of going to another search engine to buy.

What is keyword analysis?

This is just one area a good Internet Consultant will use to your advantage. They study the keywords your site is based on and chose a list of phrases that will bring the highest amount of buyers for your business. An example is the keyword "golf". the competition on that is fierce because there are 141 million sites. The chances of finding buyers on that keyword is very slim even if you were rated #1. Now lets go to the key phrase "advanced golf fitness system" which we call the low hanging fruit. The chances of a buyers typing in that phrase is great because they know exactly what they are looking for. A good Internet Marketer can give you 100 #1 positions in areas like this with less work than getting you to the top of the main keyword of "golf".
